Expert Lecture Organised on World Health Day by YRC on 7th April, 2025

Date: 7th April 2025
Venue: Botany Lab, K.L. Mehta Dayanand College for Women, Faridabad

The Youth Red Cross Society of K.L. Mehta Dayanand College for Women, Faridabad, organized an expert lecture on the occasion of World Health Day on 7th April 2025. The theme of the session was “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures.” The lecture aimed to spread awareness about the importance of maintaining good health through proper diet and lifestyle.

The resource person for the session was Ms. Priyanka Pawar, Clinical Dietician and Assistant Professor in the Department of Home Science at the college. She enlightened the students on the importance of consuming a healthy and balanced diet. She emphasized the intake of living foods such as fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables which are rich in antioxidants. These antioxidants increase the oxygen content in the body and contribute significantly to overall health.
Ms. Pawar also advised the students to consume whole grains, cereals, and foods that provide a balance of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. She stressed the need to avoid junk food and packaged items, advocating instead for nutrient-rich meals that support long-term fitness and well-being.
Ms. Priyanka Pawar also highlighted the strong connection between diet and mental health, stating that the food we consume not only affects our physical well-being but also plays a crucial role in maintaining mental and emotional balance. A healthy, nutrient-rich diet can help reduce stress, improve mood, and enhance overall cognitive function.

Principal Dr. Manju Dua graced the occasion and encouraged the students to prioritize their health by consuming nutritious food and engaging in regular physical activities. She also presented a letter of appreciation to Ms. Priyanka Pawar and acknowledged the dedicated efforts of the Youth Red Cross Society.

The event was successfully conducted under the guidance of YRC Counsellors Dr. Shveta Arya and Dr. Babita Sharma. Dr. Shveta Arya also delivered the formal Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the speaker and all participants for making the event meaningful and informative.
