
National Nutrition Week Celebration

The Department of Home Science of K.L. Mehta Dayanand College for Women, Faridabad, in collaboration with the Inner Wheel Club of Faridabad Central, organized the celebration of National Nutrition Week with great enthusiasm and zeal. The event commenced with the Lamp Lighting Ceremony, signifying the victory of knowledge over ignorance. The dignitaries warmly welcomed were Mrs. Renu Thakkar, President of the Inner Wheel Club, Ms.Kamalpreet Verma (Retired Associate Professor) and other members of the club.Dr.Meenu Dua mam ,Principal of the College graced the occasion by her esteemed presence.Dr.Sangeeta Kulshrestha, Head of the Department of Home Science left no stone unturned in preparation of the event.Dr. Sangeeta felicitated Dr. Kamal with the sapling and praised her contributions during her teaching period.
The program was further enriched by the gracious presence of Senior Faculty Member, Ms. Archna Dua, who motivated the students with her valuable guidance and encouraging words. The highlight of the celebration was an insightful Health Talk delivered by Ms. Priyanka Pawar on “Curing Diseases through Diet ” where she emphasized the importance of nutrition in maintaining health and preventing lifestyle-related diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and cardiovascular diseases. She emphasized the importance of living, wholesome, Plant based and water based foods which ae locally available foods over processed items.Ms. Priyanka, besides assistant professor in department of Homescience is alumni of the college too. The Health Talk was highly appreciated by the Principal, faculty members, and the students. It not only enhanced awareness about the significance of nutrition but also inspired the audience to adopt healthier food habits as a preventive and curative approach to diseases.
To engage the students and encourage their creative skills, competitions were organized, which included:
1) Poster Making Competition – Students showcased their artistic skills and conveyed meaningful messages on the importance of nutrition through posters.The competition was judged by

2) Healthy Recipes Competition – Students prepared innovative and nutritious dishes, highlighting the value of balanced meals in maintaining good health.
The competition was judged by Dr.Shveta Arya and Ms.Avneet Kaur. Ms. Avneet, visiting guest teaching faculty too is alumni of the college.
The entire stage program was skillfully conducted by Ms. Benu Mehta and Ms. Priyanka Pawar ensuring smooth coordination throughout the event. Dr. Sangeeta Kulshrestha also shared a few motivating words, inspiring the students to adopt healthy food habits in their daily lives. To make the celebration more engaging and interactive, a Nutrition Quiz with the audience was conducted. The quiz tested students’ knowledge about healthy eating habits, nutrients, and lifestyle-related health issues. The lively participation and quick responses reflected the keen interest of the students in the subject. At the end of the program, the winners of various events, including Poster Making, Healthy Recipes Competition, and the Nutrition Quiz, were honored during the Prize Distribution Ceremony. The dignitaries presented certificates and prizes to the winners, encouraging them to continue their efforts towards promoting health and nutrition awareness.
Ms.Sujata and Ms. Pooja too contributed towards decorations with great enthusiasm. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. Pragati Chitkara who expressed gratitude to the Principal, dignitaries, faculty, students and the Inner Wheel Club for their valuable contribution in making the event a success.
